Kevin bishop’s donations
In 2020 I donated 2% of my earnings to The Good Food Institute, Against Malaria Foundation, and Coalition for Rainforest Nations.
Donating to CfRN is a no-brainer for me as an environmentalist. Forests are one of the world’s most important carbon sinks. If CfRN can protect the most crucial square miles of land from deforestation, I believe it can increase the marginal cost of timber and squeeze out some tree-felling businesses.
GFI is another easy choice as an environmentalist. Im not a strict vegetarian, but I’m pretty convinced by the evidence on meat’s environmental impact. If science can produce foods that have all the taste and satisfaction of meat without the massive water, land, cruelty, and pesticide consumption of live animals, then funding that science is extremely worthwhile. The world can truly have its steak and eat it too.
AMF is the best bang for buck in terms of saving lives according to GiveWell, so donating to them is an acknowledgement of the power of data to drive donations as opposed to my own blind judgement. And the impact of malaria falls primarily on the non-white global south, so the impact on Black and Brown lives is large and direct.
