I am really passionate about animal welfare and the environment, and I believe those two things are strongly entangled. If we eliminate factory farming we will not only be saving tens of billions of animals per year from a life of constant suffering, we will also be reducing the carbon footprint of one of the worst industries in terms of carbon emissions - the industrial animal agriculture industry. Not only that, there are implications for global health too! In the USA around 80% of all antibiotics produced are fed to factory farmed animals just to keep them alive. This is a breeding ground for antibiotic resistance, and ultimately it is humans who ingest that antibiotic-laden meat.
